Ashcombe advises Continental Capital Markets on its sale to BGC Group
Ashcombe is pleased to announce that is has advised Continental Capital Markets S.A. (“ContiCap”), a leading fixed income and derivatives broker in emerging markets and Europe, on the sale of the business to BGC Group Inc. (“BGC”), the global brokerage and capital markets technology company.
Founded in 1998, ContiCap has developed a world-leading franchise in providing solutions to fixed income and derivatives traders of emerging market securities. This includes the facilitation of OTC transactions using ContiCap’s extensive relationships, the private placement of debt certificates and packaged notes, acting as central counterparty for issuers and investors in a range of transactions that it structures and places, and offering clients a platform for money market transactions, especially in interest rate swaps, basis swaps and FX forwards.
Brian Morris, Managing Director of ContiCap, said:
“We look forward to leveraging BGC’s deep platform capabilities globally to accelerate our growth and broaden the service range we can offer to our clients. The transaction was complex to execute, not least because of volatile global markets since the beginning of 2022. We are pleased to have been able to rely on Ashcombe and our Swiss tax and legal advisers to guide us through a complex set of transaction issues.”
Andreas Wesemann, Partner at Ashcombe, commented:
“ContiCap is an extraordinarily successful firm which has built up a highly differentiated franchise in emerging fixed income and derivatives markets, especially in Europe. We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the successful conclusion of a very complicated transaction.”
